Servathon for National & Global Youth Service Day Members helped plan and coordinate a Servathon for the Athens-Clarke County community. It was the first annual community-wide National & Global Youth Service Day event, and we had a great turnout. The Servathon entailed a kick-off ceremony with breakfast donated by Panera of Gainesville and Big Bread Company of Athens, and then the group split up to travel to different project sites. The projects included: painting murals at HeadStart Preschool, creating and maintaining trails at Memorial Park, and neighborhood clean-up on Baxter Street with Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful. The group reunited for lunch and music. SAL paid for a variety of the materials used for both projects and meals, and other materials were either donated or lent to us. We also paid for half the lunch, with Domino's Pizza donating the other half.
